BEIJING: Chinese defense ministry demanded US to must discontinue the spy planes flights near their coasts, reported a China's newspaper.
Taiwanese media prior to it reported two Chinese fighter jets attempted to scare off an American U2 reconnaissance plane collecting intelligence on China while flying along the Taiwan Strait in last month.
The two powers seeking to mend ties have a series of military disputes regarding American plans to sale arms to Taiwan and Navel standoffs in South China Sea. The US chief military official Mike Mullen has wrote in a paper last week that US is seriously thinking about bilateral exchange of defense officials with China to keep the communications lines open whereas Chinese defense ministry has called spy planes flights as major obstacle behind the bilateral efforts of mending ties.
